Items Needed:
Organic Coconut Oil
Soft Towel
Comfortable Clothing or Bathrobe
Soft Music (optional)
Candle or Incense (optional)
Warm Tea or Water
Yoga mat or a similar comfortable place to lie down
Step 1: Set the Ambience Create a calming environment in your space. Light a candle or incense of your choice to engage your senses. Put on some soft, relaxing music if you prefer.
Step 2: Hydrate Start by hydrating your body with a glass of warm tea or water. This aids in detoxification and prepares your body for the massage.
Step 3: Warm up the Coconut Oil Take a sufficient quantity of organic coconut oil and gently warm it up. This can be done by placing the required amount of oil in a glass container and then placing this container in a bowl of warm water.
Step 4: Begin the Massage Begin the massage with your feet, moving upwards. Making sure to do this with intention but also make sure to use your intuition. Pause in areas that feel like you really need to massage and show yourself love.
Feet: Pour a little warmed coconut oil onto your palms. Starting at your toes, massage in a circular motion. Work your way to the soles, giving them a good rub, then move to your ankles.
Legs: Using both hands, massage your lower legs using long, sweeping strokes, always moving towards the heart to promote circulation. Spend some time on your knees, using a circular motion. Move onto your thighs, using the same long, sweeping strokes.
Hands and Arms: Start from your fingers, massaging each one gently, then move to your palms and back of your hands. Use a similar long stroke for your arms as you did with your legs, always moving towards the heart.
Torso: For your stomach and chest, massage gently in a clockwise circular motion. Be gentle around the chest area.
Back: If possible, use a massage roller or ask a partner to help massage your back. If not, just reach as much of your back as you can.
Neck and Shoulders: Using your fingers, gently knead the muscles in your neck and shoulders. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to the neck.
Face and Head: Apply a light layer of coconut oil on your face. Use your fingertips to gently massage your face, starting from the middle and moving towards the ears. For your head, pretend you’re shampooing your hair. This stimulates the scalp and feels wonderful!
Step 5: Relax Once you have massaged your entire body, lay down on a yoga mat or your bed, close your eyes and take a few moments to breathe deeply and relax, letting the oil soak into your skin.
Step 6: Rinse (optional) After allowing your skin to absorb the oil for about 15-30 minutes, you can choose to take a warm shower or bath. If you choose to do so, do not use soap, as the aim is to keep the layer of oil on your skin. Pat your skin dry with a towel instead of rubbing.
Step 7: Reflection Finish off the ritual with a few moments of reflection. Sit comfortably, close your eyes and reflect on your feelings and thoughts. Consider this moment as a reset button for the coming week.
Remember, this is a ritual of self-care and love. It's not about perfection or doing it exactly right. It's about taking time for yourself and appreciating your body. Enjoy this ritual as often as you need.
